Leaning against the fence of a stock pen, Danielle LeDoux of Poker City Ranch waits to see if her three 1,1001b (500kg) Geibvieh bulls can win first prize. But the results are disappointing: judged on size, uniformity and muscle mass, her beasts do not even make the top three places. Although discouraged, Ms LeDoux still hopes she can sell them, or some of them, at auction a few hours later: "We knew it would be tough this year. If I can sell a couple before going home, then I'm happy."
