Beverly hills is not all Botox, faux-Spanish mansions and imported sports cars. It also has cancer clusters, and these have become Erin Brockovich's latest crusade. Ms Brockovich, a beauty queen turned filing clerk, sprang to fame in 1996 when she stumbled on evidence that Pacific Gas & Electric had been polluting the local water supply. The result was the largest toxic tort case in American history and damages of $333m for the residents of Hin-kley, a tiny place in the Mojave Desert to the north-east of Los Angeles.
