摘要

Let's look at a series of examples of how poorly thought out rewards can backfire. A recent case in point was the announcement by Walmart that, in response to the recently enacted federal corporate tax cut, it was raising the minimum wage for over a million entry level employees to $ 11.00 per hour, on average a $2.00 per hour increase. At first glance, one would think that such largess was Nirvana. Think again, as the announcement has resulted in a storm of protest from Walmart employees not benefiting from this gesture. You see, Walmart, the nation's largest employer with more than two million employees, limited the raise to only its entry level employees. The balance of their employees will be getting one-time bonuses ranging from two hundred to one thousand dollars.
