摘要

In industrial system, power factor is an important variable to be known continuously. Thus, correct measuring or calculating the power factor is essential for efficient power factor correction. Lower power factor causes reducing the capacities of production, transmission and distribution of the line [1, 2]. In this study, a novel technique for power factor calculation has been proposed using a programmable logic controller (PLC), which has been used widely in industrial automation systems. Experimental results from the test-rig with an inductive load show that the proposed technique calculates the power factor correctly and in acceptable ranges without requiring additional components.
