摘要

Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) are well suited to small-size light traction drives (e.g. in-wheel drives) due to their simple and rugged construction, low cost, high torque-to-weight ratio, and ability to operate over a wide speed range at constant power. This paper presents an optimal design of SRMs for light traction applications by using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The PSO algorithm considers torque ripple minimization and energy-efficiency enhancement as optimization criteria, and several traction drive-related items as constraints. Compared to SRM conventional design, the PSO design of SRM provides improved drive performances.
