San Jose, Calif, ― French embedded software and EDA tools vendor TNI-Valiosys has acquired struggling British EDA company TransEDA plc for an undis- closed amount. TransEDA's name and all of its technology will survive the sale. TransEDA went public in September 2000 but quickly felt the effects of the downturn. Its shares dropped dramatically on the London Stock Exchange, and chief executive officer Ellis Smith resigned last fall before the company was ultimately sold to TNI-Valiosys (Paris). TNI-Valiosys bought all shares of TransEDA Technology Ltd. (Eastleigh, England) from TransEDA plc, a holding company, said Marc Frouin, president and chief executive officer of TNI-Valiosys. The money from the acquisition will go first to the holding company, which will likely distribute some of it to TransEDA's former shareholders.
