Providing complex digital printing is where there's money to be made, predicts Frank Romano during an Electronic Publishing webcast he hosted in March called "Trends and Opportunities for Digital Printing." "The printing companies that can print offset and digital will be the most successful," he states. "The key in the future will be hybrid printing?combining offset and digital jobs. Therefore, we need papers that either run on both [types of machines] or that have the same look and feel." One print buyer, Emigrant Credit Corporation in New York City, had produced its roughly 400,000 marketing pieces a year on conventional presses, has now discovered the advantages of digital printing. It also discovered that it can use one line of papers for all its needs.
