摘要

Runge Newspapers Inc. of Renfrew, Ontario, went to a computer-to-plate (CTP) workflow last year for one reason: to save money on film. And the switch to CTP was a complete success. In August 2002, Runge, a publisher of weekly community newspapers, installed a BasysPrint UV57 computer-to-conventional-plate system. It took the place of its Agfa Avantra 30 imagesetter as well as its vacuum frame. President Fred Runge describes the transition to CTP as easy, although the installation of the platesetter certainly was not. "The platesetter comes as one big piece and we couldn't get it through the doors," Runge says. "We actually had to take a wall out to get the platesetter in." Once that hurdle was over, though, getting up and running with the new system took only a week. "It fit into our operation so nicely," he states.
