For a UK start-up technology company the most important factor to ensure a successful future is finding early stage funding. However, it is even more important to ensure that the funding is right for the company - and that is not as easy as it sounds. When Alasdair Rawsthorne, founder and chief technical officer of Transitive Corporation, was looking to develop his embryonic technology from a research project at the University of Manchester he found it hard to find a venture capitalist that he felt comfortable with.
