The outside displays are a regular feature of the Midlands Exhibition. In 2012, a very difficult time was experienced by all the attendees because of the dreadful weather causing the ground to be extremely waterlogged and muddy. This had a knock on effect for 2013 because although 20 or so steam locomotives and traction engines were listed, a number called off in anticipation of similar conditions for 2013. However, the adverse conditions did not materialise and those that did attend put on a very commendable display and managed to keep the large crowds entertained.
