Strictly speaking the signal that I am describing this time is not a piece of Southern Railway equipment. However, it has been installed for some years as the platform starter at Wittersham Road on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Under nationalisation the K&ESR became a Southern Region branch line, so I thought that this is a good enough reason to include it. The other reason is that it is in my opinion a delightful little signal and I like it! This signal was manufactured by the Railway Signal Company of Liverpool, found its way to Ireland from where it was recovered, restored and installed at Wittersham Road station. I have not seen another example of this particular signal and presume therefore it is quite unique.
