It is well-known that different additives provoke a significant increase of heat and mass transfer in falling-film absorbers in liquid sorption systems. However, from a fundamental point of view the mechanism is not yet satisfactorily explained. In this paper a review of the state-of-the-art as well as of recent developments in Experiments with falling-film absorbers and desorbers will be presented. Working Pairs to be covered are Water-Lithiumbromde and Ammonia-Water. In the latter Case no significant improvement has been detected whereas in the first case an im- Provement of up to a factor of 2 is reported.
