摘要

Some solid products, of industrial interest, are thermally unstable as they can undergo decomposition at nearly ambient temperature. These decomposition reactions are generally complex, exothermic and give rise to important gas release and solid products. They can deteriorate the solids and initiate thermal runaways, and even deflagrations. The present study is concerned with the simulation of a cylinder storage tank filled with thermally unstable solids. The influence of the bed aeration by natural convection, forced and mixed convection in upwards and downwards flow is analyzed. The influence of the geometric ratio on thermal ignition is also examined.
