EPA has released a controversial interim draft guidance for how local officials should respond to radiological incidents, a measure that is drawing criticism from environmentalists who are concerned that its methods could replace strict risk-based cleanups at Superfund sites, though it is likely to be well received by industry and Republicans. Acting EPA Administrator Bob Perciasepe April 5 signed a planned Federal Register notice announcing the availability of the agency's interim draft "Protective Action Guides and Planning Guidance for Radiological Incidents" - known as the PAG for radiological incidents.
