A Maryland bill that extends a popular tax credit and rebate program for plug-in electric vehicles was signed May 4 by Gov. Larry Hogan (R). Other environmental bills Hogan signed include one that provides a state income tax credit of up to 30 percent of the cost of installing an energy storage system (S.B. 758), making Maryland the first state to offer such a credit to help boost efficiency of the power grid during high demand. Another establishes an institute to develop and attract private investment in clean energy innovation and commercialization.
