Officials at the Port of Los Angeles and city of Los Angeles failed to adequately consider air quality and other impacts in approving a proposed 153-acre rail yard, a California Superior Court said March 30 (Fast Lane Transportation Inc. v. Los Angeles, Cal. Super. Ct., No. CIV MSN14-0300, 3/30/16). Environmental documents certified in 2013 by the port and city for BNSF Railway Co.'s Southern California International Gateway Project violated the California Environmental Quality Act, Superior Court Judge Barry P. Goode said in the decision.
