Key drivers of the federal Superfund program in the coming years will include enforcement actions addressing larger sites, remediation projects featuring fewer taxpayer dollars and the reexamination of previously remediated sites, a panel of environmental enforcement officials said June 15. The enforcement officials conceded these program adjustments could force responsible parties to pay a larger share for remediation activities under Superfund, which is already considered a high-cost program.
