Environmental justice advocates are praising the Environmental Protection Agency's recently released guidance that places community outreach and input at the center of the environmental justice consideration process. In the guidance on how agency analysts can assess justice concerns in EPA actions, the agency puts qualitative data such as interviews with community members on an equal playing field with quantitative data. The guidance also cites community input as "integral" to risk assessment and cites research into community outreach and meaningful engagement as a future prior- ity.
