A trucking equipment manufacturer is challenging the Environmental Protection Agency's failure to issue renewable fuel standards for 2014 and 2015 in a lawsuit filed Jan. 15 (Plant Oil Powered Diesel Fuel Systems Inc. v. McCarthy, D.C. Cir., No. 15-1011, 1/15/15). Plant Oil Powered (POP) Diesel Fuel Systems Inc., which manufacturers equipment allowing trucks to operate on vegetable oil, said the EPA has failed to issue the annual blending requirements as required by the statute. The company is challenging the EPA's announcement that it will not issue standards for 2014 and 2015 until later this year (79 Fed. Reg. 73,007).
