Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) asked the Environmental Protection Agency to withdraw its proposed carbon dioxide performance standards for new power plants in an Aug. 2 letter. Inhofe, ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said EPA relied on "a number of unprecedented and flawed interpretations" of Section 111 of the Clean Air Act when it proposed carbon dioxide new source performance standards for new fossil fuel-fired power plants.
