A federal court has confirmed a bankruptcy plan for Motors Liquidation Co. that creates the largest environmental response trust established to date-a $536 million fund to clean up contaminated properties (In re Motors Liquidation Company, Bankr. S.D.N.Y., No. 09-50026, plan confirmed 3/29/11). The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York entered an order March 29 confirming Motors Liquidation's second amended joint Chapter 11 plan, which establishes a total of four trusts, including the one dedicated to environmental cleanup.
