A subpoena served on the White House seeking documents related to a California solar panel manufacturer is overly broad and represents "a significant intrusion on Executive Branch interests," President Obama's counsel wrote in a letter to Republican leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. "I can only conclude that your decision to issue a subpoena, authorized by a party-line vote, was driven more by partisan politics than a legitimate effort to conduct a responsible investigation," said the Nov. 4 letter, which was signed by White House Counsel Kathryn H. Ruemmler.
