摘要

Paris-A global agreement brokered by the United Nations is the best way of ensuring international cooperation to resolve "the vital issue" of climate change, but any agreement should maximize business input, the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce said April 22.rnIn a statement to the Group of Eight (G-8) environment ministers, who are meeting April 22-24 in Sir-acusa, Italy, the business lobby called on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is currently drafting a global post-2012 agreement to succeed the Kyoto Treaty, to "maximize and enable the contribution of business" in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.rnThe UNFCCC hopes to conclude the agreement at a climate conference in Copenhagen in December.rnThe ICC statement noted that "existing low-emissions technologies have the potential to significantly reduce global emissions."
