A final report assessing the health risks of sulfur dioxide exposure recommends the Environmental Protection Agency set the first-ever one-hour air quality standard to protect public health from short-term spikes in concentrations of the pollutant.rnThe report, Risk and Exposure Assessment to Support the Review of the SO_2 Primary National Ambient Air Quality Standard: Final Report, was announced in a July 29 Federal Register notice and was later posted on EPA's website (74 Fed. Reg. 37,705).rnThe assessment, prepared by EPA's Office of Air Quality and Planning Standards, is part of the agency's periodic review of the national ambient air quality standards for sulfur dioxide.
