Both the Danish Presidency and the European Commission have agreed that the Seventh Environment Action Programme (7EAP) needs to be more targeted than its predecessor, and to focus on implementation. At the recent workshop on priorities for the 7EAP, DG Environment Director General Karl Falkenberg for the Commission and John Baek S0rensen for the Danish Presidency agreed that a " comprehensive narrative" highlighting the need for sustainable development was essential rather than a "to do list".
