In the last editorial (Paul, 2007), I introduced the need to consider changing the way the IS (information systems) community conducts its affairs given that there were five concerns I could discuss - and which I set out in that editorial. These were: 1. Nobody seems to know who we are outside the IS community. 2. Demand from students to study IS is generally dropping, and it is particularly rapid in the U.S.A. 3. Research publications in IS do not appear to be publishing the right sort or content of research. 4. Journal League Tables. 5. What is an IS? I also mentioned that Richard Baskerville and I were going to set out some proposals in the next issue (i.e., this one) as to what the IS community could do about these five issues. After several discussions I now present these proposals, but in my name alone since Richard is a coauthor of one of the papers initiating the debate. I anticipate that we shall reverse roles in a later issue.
