摘要

There always exists a small size gap between the rotating component of the impeller and the fixed inlet casing of an airfoil fan. The static pressure is higher at the discharge side than in the suction duct and there is leakage flow through the gap. The objective of this paper is, using the commercial code STAR/CD, to numerically investigate the flow field and the Mechanism of performance variation due to the leakage flow through the radial clearance at the impeller inlet. The three Dimensional flow and the total performance of an airfoil fan impeller with an without radial clearance are presented and the Flow structure through the impeller is discussed.
