Water at Europe's beaches, rivers and lakes was generally of high quality in 2013, with 95% of sites meeting minimum requirements, according to the annual report on the quality of bathing waters put out by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The report, published on 27 May, nevertheless notes that the quality of inland bathing waters (lakes and rivers) was lower than the average.
