Microsoft office is taking the shape of a developer platform. At its Microsoft Office System Developer Conference Feb. 11 in San Jose, Calif, officials with the software vendor unveiled a slew of developer-centric news and technology-Office developer-centric, that is. The event was kicked off with a keynote address by outgoing Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. Gates announced a series of new offerings, including the release of Office Live Small Business Winter '08 edition, a Federal Express solution built using Office, new OBA (Office Business Application) sample application kits for SAP and Oracle's PeopleSoft products, Version 1.1 of Visual Studio Extensions for Windows SharePoint Services, the RTM (release to manufacturing) of the BizTalk Adapter Pack, and a new OBA component library for financial services.
