Google's Scott Johnston, product manager for the newly created Google Sites, has been with the company since the search giant acquired him and his team from the wiki startup JotSpot, but he still "gets goose bumps" about his work with a company the size of Google. Johnston said there is a great difference between creating a wiki application for a small company like JotSpot and forging one for a massive enterprise like Google. "Here we have near-infinite scalability and deeper integration with search, and it scales to any organization," he said. "At a startup-or any company without enough infrastructure-you're constantly bailing. You get a new customer on with 10x what you've ever handled, and you've got to figure out how to deal with that.
