It's likely that many in it would rather forget 2003. the year started with companies in hunkered-down mode, trying to squeeze the last drops out of the few people and aging products still standing after layoffs and cutbacks. That difficult task was made herculean by a raft of security exploits that left many IT managers at the end of their rope. Now, as we approach the end of the year, we see reason to be hopeful for a better year ahead. Knock on wood, the economy seems to be picking up, and purse strings seem to be loosening a bit.
