(Result] A linear relationship was observed between flow rates and concentrations of the gas containing 3.6%~ 15.4% sevoflurane, which confirmed that it was possible to create any desirable mixture of anesthetic gas by sending and mixing air into the sevoflurane gas flow, both of which were controlled by flowmeters. Also, the sevoflurane gas was not detected after the gas was passed through commercially available charcoal filter. It confirmed that charcoal filter could be used to remove sevoflurane. Furthermore, by separating the gas flow routs for the induction phase and maintenance phase of anesthesia, it became possible to perform induction and maintenance/surgery at the same time, thus improving manipulability. Using this apparatus, we could achieve stable anesthetic effects during mouse ureter ligation surgeries and rat cervical vein cannulation surgeries.
