Aluminium shipbuilding specialist Austal has spent $7M to acquire the former FBMA Marine shipyard at Cebu. Austal will invest a further $5M to enhance the shipyard's existing facilities. Austal plans to begin vessel construction in the first quarter of 2012 and expects to employ about 30 workers during the start-up phase. The site allows for expansion of the facility when market conditions require.
