Designers of power electronics systems for dynamically positioned vessels are faced with a number of conflicting requirements. Customers want light, compact systems with maximum flexibility, reliability and maintainability, while class rules dictate that DP capability must be maintained after any single failure and that harmonics on the electrical system buses remain below specified limits.
