Each year Europe holds two major shipping exhibitions -Nor-Shipping and Europort in odd years and SMM and Posidonia in even years - where shipbuilders and equipment suppliers can market their goods to a wide audience. For those that buy, the purchase is not the end of the matter for they will expect whatever it is they have bought to serve them faithfully for decades - although most know that at some time it will need servicing or repair. Which is where the Ship Repair and Conversion exhibition and conference comes in. This year will see the 12th edition of the annual event, which will once again be held at London's Olympia exhibition centre. Although not on the scale of the big four shows, Ship Repair and Conversion does bring together the major players in the servicing, maintenance and repair sectors and thus allows harassed superintendents to keep up to date with events and faces. But as the show only runs for two days - 26-27 November - and there are over 130 exhibitors, getting to see everyone is still not an easy task.
