Container-ship tonnage for vessels serving coastal routes in China continues to grow in spite of a push by the government to incentivise scrapping of younger vessels. According to China's Ministry of Transport, 27 new box ships joined the country's coastal fleet in the first six months of this year, bringing the total to 195 vessels, accounting for 610,000teu as of 30 June.
