Despite an ambitious newbuilding programme, Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) is prepared, with "a lot of forward fixtures". Michael Jolliffe, co-founder and vice-chairman of TEN, told IHS Maritime: "We have $1Bn worth of ships on order, with the majority already chartered to oil companies." The Athens-managed oil transport services company has been publicly listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange since 1993, and NYSE since 2002. "We already have nine Aframaxes lined up with Statoil," Jolliffe said. The company witnessed a tenfold increase in operating income to $9.7M in 1Q13, from $1M in 1Q12, showing $1Bn in accumulated income since its 2002 listing.
