Outlook: The ConTex drifted sideways at 366 points last week, supported by small gains for gearless 2,700teu and 4,250teu ships, while the smaller, geared sectors all logged marginal losses. Demand for Panamax chartered box ships remains high, illustrated by reports of the first Panamax fixture at $10,000/day for a trans-Pacific round-voyage. Rate assessments for geared 1,100teu and 1,700teu types, by contrast, were marked down a little despite decent fixing activity in Asia, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
