Trans-Atlantic product tanker trade routes are undergoing a fundamental shift as US diesel exports to Europe have doubled during the past four years, with the traditional backhaul route now eclipsing the fronthaul trade. First-quarter diesel exports to Europe from the United States at 2.9M tonnes were equal to gasoline exports to North America from the continent, figures from the European Commission and US Energy Information Administration show.
