The Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) China Shipping Prosperity Report Index (CSPI) for 2Q14 shows that Chinese shipping companies still face considerable challenges. It was the second quarter in a row in which the index fell below the demarcation line, after rising above the 100-point threshold in 4Q13. It stood at 93.87, 3.48 points higher than in 1Q14, but still indicating that shipping companies were in a sluggish period. CSPI for shipping companies was at 88.09, 0.1 point lower, while the China Shipping Confidence Report Index (CSFI) of shipping companies was at 48.39, down 31.63 points.
