Hong Kong's Kwai Tsing port is already home to the world's fourth-busiest container terminals and is now gearing up for increasingly large box ships. The port is being dredged deeper to accommodate ships with capacity exceeding 18,000teu, with the aim of retaining Kwai Tsing's status as a world mega-port, Gerry Yim, CEO of HPH Trust and managing director of Hongkong International Terminals (HIT), told IHS Maritime. HIT is the largest terminal operator in Hong Kong. The dredging project is expected to be completed in early 2016, Yim said.
