OSG's long-time CEO, president and director Morten Arntzen (pictured) abruptly resigned last week just as the embattled tanker major was entering a pivotal stage of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. Capt Robert Johnston becomes president and CEO, effective immediately. Johnston began his career at OSG in 1969 as a seafarer and moved shoreside in 1976. He was promoted to senior vice-president in 1998, head of shipping operations in 2005, and head of OSG's US-flag business in 2009. Arntzen had served as president and chief executive officer of OSG since January 2004. Prior to that, he was a banker at American Marine Advisors, Chase Manhattan, Chemical Bank, and Manufacturers Hanover.
