While there are intensifying rumours that more consolidation is due to take place in container shipping to improve weak profitability, companies should not be ordering new tonnage as excessive supply is the key to their persistent misfortune, a senior shipbroker has warned. "There are growing rumours that there are discussions between various operators that will likely shift the dynamic of the container market and move it further down the road of alliances and consolidation," Braemar Seascope Containers of London said in a weekly report on container shipping markets.
