India's decision to export raw sugar in anticipation of a good harvest this season has pushed down sugar prices in the international market. The move to export 500,000 tonnes in the initial phase stems from the anticipation of a good harvest in this season. India is the world's second-largest producer of sugar after Brazil, but is also the largest consumer of the commodity.
