For many years there was a debate among those who saw training as a cost and those who argued it was an investment. That debate is increasingly sterile. Shipping has come down heavily on the side of investment, even in times of economic turmoil. No company can be regarded as meeting its employees' needs until it has a structured programme of educational steps with the aim of building corporate strength through individual training.
