Fairplay believes we are justified in describing Dubai as a powerhouse, despite the turmoil of recent months. It remains a financial hub for an entire region and continues to attract foreign investment from companies looking to serve the Middle East. But the emirate needs to learn lessons, one ofrnwhich is that it's easier to fall than it is to rise.rnWhat marks Dubai out from other cities in the region is the breadth of its trading community. India's west coast sees Dubai as a financial centre, Iranians make good use of its ports to move imports into and exports from the emiraternto the north, and Europeans view Dubai as a safe haven with excellent connectivity in every direction. None of these three communities want to see Dubai's financial, trading or networking capabilities dispersed.
