Ship arrests appear to be increasing since an appellate court decision ended shipping attachmentsrn- known as 'Rule B attachments'rn- of electronic fund transfers.rnThese had been used to detain dollar-denominated shipping money that otherwise would have flowed through New York during the normal course of business. Claimants had flocked to NY to get attachments as security; in doing so, more traditional methods of security such as ship arrests became less favoured.
