The future for logistics providers is likely to be expensive, and the search is on for ways to control operating cost by conducting a thorough assessment of the supply chain from factory to dealer. The results of such an assessment will not always be what had been expected.rnMelanie Moore, who heads up the environmental team at Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, explains one of the key considerations by comparison to athletic achievement. The times of the top four runners in the men's 100m at the Beijing Olympics were added together and compared with the time recorded by the　winning men's 4×100m relay.rnSurprisingly, perhaps, the relay runners' time was faster, despite having to pass the baton three times.
