Apparently Dutch housing minister Eberhard van der Laan is not impressed with the argument that maritime heritage should be preserved at any cost. He has stipulated that those involved in the project to get the 50-year-old cruise liner SS Rotterdam alongside as a hotel/conference centre in Rotterdam should present a contingency plan before 1 March.rnThe plan must incorporate a scheme for refurbishment and restoration work, the current financial situation of the ship's owner (social housing corporation Woonbron) and a way to distribute 80% of the shares of the Rotterdam. The cabinet minister also appointed an external supervisor at Woonbron, who has to report to the minister on a monthly basis until 1 July. He is Hans Zwarts, former head of international employment agency Randstad Holdings.
