New shipping restrictions are likely to flow from Tokyo's decision to extend sanctions against North Korea in protest at Pyongyang's launch of a long-range rocket.rnThe 5 April flight's trajectory passed over northern Japan, sparking outrage in Japan and neighbouring nations. Japan has formally expressed anger at what Tokyo has consistently described as the test of a Taepo-dong-2 intercontinental ballistic missile, but which North Korea claims was a rocket carrying a civilian satellite into orbit.rnLast week the House of Councillors in Tokyo adopted a resolution by majority condemning the launch andrncalling on the government to impose tougher sanctions against Kim Jong ll's regime. These are expected to include a 12-month extension to an existing ban on port calls in Japan by North Korean-flagged or owned ships.
